Located between Ningnan County in Sichuan Province and Jujia County in Yunnan Province, the White Crane Bund (Baihetan) Hydropower Plant is the second of four stages of power plants in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River. With a total installed power generation capacity of 16 million kW, it will become the world’s second largest hydropower plant upon completion. The first generator is expected to start operating and generating power in July 2021, and all generators are expected to be operational and generating power in July 2022. Construction is by the Three Gorges Group.
