In 2020, nuclear energy contributed nearly 5% to China’s energy mix

According to China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), domestically designed third-generation nuclear power reactor Hualong One entered commercial operations in Fuqing city, Fujian Province, after a seven-day trial run. By the end of 2020, China had 49 working nuclear reactors, and nuclear power plants generated 366.24 billion kWh of electricity in 2020, accounting for 4.94 % of the total power output.
