Qingdao completes test run of new-generation monorail

The straddle-type monorail, developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang,  achieves a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Width of the car body is 3 meters, and the train achieves passage over high gradiens, small turnings, accommodates a large number of passengers, and emits low noise. Equipped for driverless operation to GoA4, the new-generation trainset uses a permanent magnet traction package, which is expected to reduce energy consumption by around 20% compared to earlier monorail designs.
