CAS Institute of Biology obtains carbonyl reductase with high thermal stability

The enzyme which is important for the synthesis of various drugs (APIs) has been derived from Chryseobacterium sp. CA49 and, by protein design, been improved to stand 65 C for 15 d at > 95 % residual activity as compared to the wild type enzyme which has a half-live of only 12 min under these conditions.
