China plans new supeercomputer

According to Xiangfei MENG, head of applications at the National Supercomputer Center, China will release a prototype in 2017 or 2018 of an exascale” computer, capable of at least a billion billion calculations per second. The exascale computer will be independently developed by the National Supercomputer Center, according to Meng, whereas only about a seventh of Tianhe-1A’s CPU chips, China’s first supercomputer, were Chinese”
