Sino-Japanese team finds simple catalyst for water splitting, 6.8 % quantum efficiency at 420 nm

The groups around Fuxiang ZHANG at CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and Kazunari DOMEN of the University of Tokyo found in a joint project that a Pt-loaded heterostructure catalyst which could be produced by one-pot chemistry split water at nearly 7 % apparent quantum efficiency at 420 nm, which is much higher compared to earlier attempts.
