Systems biology may hold clues for the effect of TCM

A consortium led by the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology investigated genetic networks related to Liuwei Dihuang (LWDH), a classic Chinese medicinal formula that has been used for more than a thousand years in China and is comprised of 6 Chinese herbs. Through text mining, the team built interaction networks among LWDH-interacting genes and found synergistic effects among the gene products.
