International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) finds China No. 13 in global transgenic cultivation, mainly cotton and papaya

In Asia, China and India are still the main developing nations cultivating genetically modified crops. In 2014, cultivation of genetically modified crops were 3.9 million hectares. 2014 GM cotton adoption rate increased from 90% to 93%, while the anti-virus papaya acreage increased by about 50%. The production of food products from GM crops is hotly debated in China.
