Geely Seaview SC7 car wins national price for methanol fuel engine

Geely has started to develop methanol-based engines in 2005. 150 test cars were put in operation in March 2013 and have driven 5,8 million km, with up to 90.000 km/car. Average methanol consumption was 15,3 l/100 km, at a cost of 75 Yuan/l. China’s national strategy is to change the use of coal to chemical products such as methanol. At present, China produces about 50 % of the global methanol.
