CAS group cures wheat fungal infection by genome editing

The group of Caixia GAO at the CAS Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology has succeeded to delete genes from wheat which encode proteins that repress defences against powdery mildew infection. TALEN and CRISPR techniques wer used to specifically knock out all relevant genes in hexaploid wheat.
