A group around LI Shengying found that an enzyme from the marine organism Jeotgalicoccus sp. reduced long-chain fatty acids (C12-C20) in-vitro to the corresponding alkene in the presence of NADPH and O2 when partnered with an appropriate P450 reductase domain. Highest yields were about 100 mg/L.
