There are about 180.000 Chinese manufacturers for medical devices, mostly low-tech SMEs. Mindray Co., with 10 R&D centers and 120 Mill US-$ R&D expenditure in 2012, is a high-end medical equipment producer, market leader in China and active in the international markets with offices in over 20 nations. As a next step, Mindray will acquire foreign companies such as US Zonare (64 million US-$ sales in 2013).
