China’s National Gene Bank builds largest database of birth defects

Samples of birth defects number close to 13.000, and genetic data over 5.000. The number of birth defects in China is about 5.6 %, with an annual increase of about 900.000. Mr ZHANG Yong, head of the National Gene Bank, hopes to elucidate origin of birth defects by genetic and sample collection throughout China.
