SARS epidemics in 2002 originated from coronaviruses endemic to Chinese bats

An international study group led by SHI Zhengli from CAS Wuhan Institute of Virology published in Nature Oct. 30 that a SARS-like coronavirus (CoVs) infecting horseshoe bats in Yunnan province were at the origin of the 2002 epidemics which killed about 800 people during 2002 and 2003.
