Group at Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica detects novel anti-cancer compound selectively inducing tumor cell apoptosis

Professor YU Qiang and coworkers have detected NPP, methyl 3-(4-nitrophenyl) propiolate, to be a preferential tumor cell death inducer. NPP induces apoptosis by cytochrome P450-catalyzed reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation.
