Tianjin group reaches > 2g/L ß-carotene in engineered E. coli cells

Based on metabolic engineering with a focus on ATP synthesis, an E. coli strain was designed which produces 2,1 g/L of ß-carotene in 54 hrs (60 mg/g of dry cells).
