According to China’s Chemical Industry Information Center, bioindustrial chemicals are expected to contribute 25 % of Chinese chemical production by 2020. Chinese monosodium glutamate and citric acid production are first in the world, starch industry and enzymatic sugar transformation are second, fermentation alcohol ranks third in the world, and lysine will become a world class production base; biological methods for butanol, ethylene etc. show also breakthroughs. Biopolymer production is in rapid development and market entry.
