Baosteel to commercialize steel tail gas to ethanol technology in early 2013

During a 3 years collaboration among Baosteel Metal, Langze Consulting and CAS, a waste recycling enterprise, Shanghai Baosteel Langze New Energy Co., Ltd., was formed in February 2011 which built a 300 t/y demonstration plant. Technology is based on advanced microbial gas fermentation (blast furnace gas, converter gas and tail gas). The plant was put into operation in March 2012, and key indicators for continuous and smooth operations were achieved. An expert group of the National Development Reform Commission cleared the project on Oct. 30, 2012, to be commercially implemented in the first half of 2013.
